- Ascension Outreach serves the needy in Greenwich Village, New York City, through two key community programs: a food pantry and a tutoring program.
- Since 1977 we've operated a tutoring program in the Ascension Parish Hall, helping public school students improve their skills in reading, math, and critical thinking, and import the value of embracing diversity.
- In 1982, a man named Michael Fender, alarmed at what he saw as a growing societal affliction, established a food pantry. Since that time, The Michael D. Fender Memorial Food Pantry at The Church of the Ascension has worked continuously to ease the problem of hunger with a food pantry in Greenwich Village.
Incorporated in 2006 under the name Ascension Outreach, Inc., these ministries continue to serve the needs of humanity in the name of Christ. Ascension Outreach, Inc., is a member agency of the Food Bank for New York City and a United Way beneficiary. The work of expanding our capacity and incorporation in 2006-07 was underwritten by a grant from the Starr Foundation through America's Second Harvest. We are grateful for their support.
